TOPIC:
SACRIFICE IT NOW

Read Philippians 3:7-11

MEMORISE
For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.
(Romans 3:23)

The fall of man in Eden led to the break in the relationship between God and man. God was not pleased with this, because it negates His original plan and purpose for man. In view of the aforesaid, God ordained from eternity that He would pay the ransom for man's redemption, by sacrificing Himself in His only begotten Son, to restore man to Himself.

Romans 3:23 emphasises the state of every man with God. Therefore, 2 Peter 3:7 calls for repentance, to restore broken relationship of man with Him. All He wants from you is an intimate, not casual, relationship. He wants to be your Friend and Father. Walk up to Him; He is ever available.

Galatians 5:19-21 enumerate some of the things that must be sacrificed for intimate relationship with God. These are called the works of the flesh that include, but are not limited to adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness, idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies, envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like; of which … those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God. It is expected of individual to identify that which must be sacrificed in his life to be what God intended from the beginning, and put that to death through continuous sanctification (Rom 12:1-2).

Paul sacrificed his knowledge about the Jewish laws, to have intimate relationship with the true God. Had Judas Iscariot sacrificed his lust for money, he won't have ended up in suicide. Sacrifice all that God wants you to give up, now, so that the Door (Christ) to heaven will not deny you access, on the last day.

PRAYER POINTS
1. Help me, oh Lord, to love what You love and hate those things You hate.
2. Oh Lord, open my understanding to the danger of worldliness, so that I will not perish with the world.
3. Oh Lord, help our leaders to realise the implication of them loving the world over their followers.
