THE ALL SUFFICIENT GRACE

Read: 1 Corinthians 15:1-10

MEMORISE
But by the grace of God I am what I am: and his grace which was bestowed upon me was not in vain; but I laboured more abundantly than they all: yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me. (1 Corinthians 15:10).

Grace simply means unmerited favour. It is the enabling that is granted by someone who is superior and more capable. In the instance that Apostle Paul referred to, God the Creator is doing the enabling. In relation to character, it is to make the unqualified, by natural standard, qualified, by supernatural intervention. In doing so, God endows the person with all the required qualities.

In relation to performance and activity, the person is not naturally capable, but God enables the recipient of His grace with the strength and gifts necessary for the given task. Paul echoed this notion of inadequacy in the recipient of God's grace, by how he described himself in 1 Corinthians 10:9-10. As a recipient of God's grace, Paul acknowledged that his labour which surpassed those of the earlier apostles was due to the grace bestowed upon him. The grace of God becomes all sufficient when the character and action of the recipient of that grace complement each other harmoniously.

Efforts display how hardworking person is, but grace makes a person a finisher. Efforts will show our ability and limitations, but grace will perfect us by adding beauty to our abilities, and turn our limitations to testimonies. When efforts are saying that it is all about us, grace says that it is all about our God. Grace turns the natural person into the instrument of the supernatural God (Phil. 4:13). Grace will display the outworking of God's purpose through our failure and disappointment. Grace makes a person to become a beneficiary of what he is not entitled to.

PRAYER POINTS
1. Lord, make me a channel of Your grace to others.
2. Lord, let your grace be sufficient for me, even in places where my efforts fail.
3. Pray for ministers of the gospel that God should grant them effectual doors of opportunities for the gospel.
