INTRODUCTION
Textual Source: (Luke 1:34,35; 1:25-45; 2:1ff).
The faithful and unfailing God has wonderful brought us to the second half of the year, 2017. For the year, the mega theme is, ‘The Life of Christ’, and this informed the areas we considered in the first of the year, i.e. Unit I talked about His Take Off, Unit II considered His Dealings, and Unit III, His Further Dealings.
By His grace, we were able to see Christ’s unequalled beginnings (deity and humanity), His relationship with all categories of mankind, and lastly, His sovereignty over demons, situations and death. Indeed, He is the fullness of God, the full and final provision of God for the needs of mankind. We were highly challenged by the inspirations and revelations from the Word by His Spirit. May the Lord God help all believers to continue to live in Him, His love, His will, His power, His provisions and Word. Amen.
This is the first lesson of the second half of the year. The theme would be concluded in this period, and has been divided into three (3) units, namely; Unit I: Jesus And His Relationships, Unit II: Jesus As He Handled Issues, and Unit III: Jesus And The Future.
The first lesson under Unit I is titled, Jesus And His Parents. By His grace, and from His Word, we would see how God had sent His Son into the sinful world and how He fully and publicly endorsed and announced His Son's sonship. The Son also lavishly, openly and boldly acknowledged the fatherhood of His eternal Father. Again, we would see how God favoured a particular couple here on earth to receive and cater for this Son of Man (humanity) and Son of God (deity). Though, He was God, we would see how Jesus respected and obeyed the earthly father.
May the Lord help us as parents and children, to learn from the life of out Perfect Example - Jesus Christ.

* God had the eternal plan of coming to redeem and restore the lost mankind. He must therefore come in a human, and an uncommon way. (Hebrews 2:14-17).
* God the Father wisely and meticulously chose the “human mother”, a virgin (Matthew 1:8; Isaiah 7:14; Luke 1:35), and a righteous and God-fearing man who was ready to obey God in full (the foster father) (Matthew 11:19-25; Luke 1:35).
* God the Father supervised the coming together of the “parents” and protected the Child from King Herod (Matthew 2:13-23).
* The Father was with the Son in all His earthly journeys and answered His prayers on all occasions.
* God introduced Him at the beginning (Matthew 3:14-17), confirmed Him as the journey continued (Matthew 17:5) and raised His Son when all had deserted Him after His death of (Matthew 28:1,2; Acts. 13:30).
The Submissive Son (John 8:20-29; 11:38-42).
...I do nothing of Myself: but as My Father taught Me, I speak these things. And He who sent Me is with Me, the Father has not left Me alone, for I always do those things that please Him (John 8:28-29).
* The Son recognised His Father.
* Jesus Christ revered and respected His Father.
* He depended fully on the Father (John 11:38-44).
* He lived to serve the purpose of His Father (John 8:29; John 9:4).
* He obeyed His Father even unto death (Phillipians 2:5-9).
* He trusted the Father on all matters (John 11:41,42).
* He gloriously returned to, and remains with the Father (John 20:17-21; Romans 8:34).
* Believers in God through Jesus Christ mush learn to live as Christ lived --- recognise, respect, rely on and represent God of Heavens and earth.
LESSONS DERIVED
-- God declared and demonstrated that He is the Father of Jesus Christ by being with Him and supporting Him in all ways.
-- Jesus Christ accepts, announces and proves that He is the Son of God by obedience, submission, reliance and fulfilling, ONLY the Father's programmes. Are we like that?
WORK TO DO
Jesus Christ was before Abraham and David (Matthew 27:41-46; John 8:48-59). Discuss.
