CHRIST : THE SEED OF THE WOMAN

CHRIST : THE SEED OF THE WOMAN

And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel. (Genesis 3:15).

Friends, yesterday I introduced us to a search and research on who Jesus Christ is. Today. we are continuining with that search. Actually, we are looking at the personality and profile of this unique and extraordinary character we are about celebrating this season, that is Jesus Christ. This time, I want us to trace him in all the books of the Bible.

Today, as we could see in our text, we are looking at him as was revealed in the book of Genesis. As a matter of fact, there he is presented as ‘the seed of the woman’ that would bruise the head of the serpent (Satan). By the way, that was fulfilled at his resurrection, when he conquered the power of Satan and opened the prison door of captive sinners. Now, let us look at him as this ‘Seed’ in the following light:

1. CHRIST: THE SUPERNATURAL SEED OF WONDER:
Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise: When as his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Ghost. (Matt.1:18).

If I may guide us, seed is used in the Bible to represent offspring or child (Genesis 12:7; 13:15, 16). Meanwhile, the book of Hebrews refers to Jesus as the Seed of Abraham (Hebrews 2:16), and of course, Abraham was a seed of the first woman, Adam.

Christ was born through a supernatural means. His conception was supernatural through the supernatural power of the Holy Ghost. It was not a product of the natural law of reproduction. There was no relation between the mother, Mary and the foster father Joseph before his conception. God Almighty in His Divinity made it possible for the woman to have a baby without the help of a woman. That is what made him a supernatural, extraordinary seed of wonder and wonderment.

2. CHRIST: THE SACRIFICIAL SEED FOR THE WORLD:
The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world. (John1:29).

The Almighty God sent His Son Jesus Christ to be a sacrificial offering for our sins. He died to save us from sin and unrighteousness. He wants to redeem every one of us from the bondage to sin and bad habits. That is why we all need to give our lives to him and appropriate his sacrifice for our sin. Do that now and have a fulfilling celebration of his birth.

3.CHRIST:THE SINLESS SEED FOR THE WEAK:
And ye know that he was manifested to take away our sins; and in him is no sin. (1 John 3:5).

One of the characteristics of Christ that uniquely stood him out during his earthly life was his sinlessness. He lived, absolutely, without sin. That is why he is most qualified to be our Redeemer through the sacrifice of his pure blood on the cross of Calvary. All those that interacted with him during his life on earth could not accuse him of any infraction against the laws of God. He lived and walked in perfect obedience to God. In fact, at a point, he challenged the Jew on his perfection of character, “Which of you convinceth me of sin? And if I say the truth, why do ye not believe me? “He queried.

Actually, he was given, although morally and spirituallly strong,to die for us because we are in character. He who knew no sin died for they who were neck deep in sin. That what makes him 'the seed of the woman' that has bruised the head of Satan. Now, the question is, has he conquered satan and all his works in your life? Has he taken away all your sins? Make sure he does that by repenting of those sins and reconciling with him, betimes. May god help you in Jesus name.
