CHRIST: THE GREAT PROPHET IN DEUTERONOMY

CHRIST: THE GREAT PROPHET IN DEUTERONOMY:

The Lord thy God will raise up unto thee a Prophet from the midst of thee, of thy brethren, like unto me; unto him ye shall hearken ;(Dueteronomy18:15)

The children of Israel knew Moses as a prophet of God. However, what they did not know is the fact that his prophetic ministry was limited and pointing to that of the Greatest Prophet of all ages, Jesus Christ, which was to be presented to the entire human race as a Saviour and Teacher. It took this prophetic declaration from Moses for the children of Israel to come to terms with what the Almighty God was preparing for all the world.

As we continue with this series on who Jesus is, we are going to see Him in the light of this prophetic revelation of Moses the prophetic Leader over Israel in the book of Deuteronomy. Now, let us look at the following:

1. THE WORKS OF WONDER BY THIS GREAT PROPHET:
And they said unto him, Concerning Jesus of Nazareth, which was a prophet mighty in deed and word before God and all the people : (Luke 24:19).

Much more than Moses, God approved and endorsed the ministry of Christ Jesus as the Greatest Prophet that will ever exist with many wonderful works. In fact, the summary of His wonderful exploits was captured by Job, the Ancient, in the book of Job 9:10: Which doeth great things past finding out: yea, and wonders without numbers without number. He has the unlimited powers to do wonderful things in the life of those who trust in Him.

2. THE WORDS OF WISDOM FROM THIS GREAT PROPHET:
And all bare him witness, and wondered at the gracious words which proceeded out of his mouth. And he said, Verily I say unto you, No prophet is accepted in his own country. (Luke 4:22, 24).

The wisdom of our Lord Jesus Christ was unique and unparalleled. The Jewish antagonists could not resist it. The Gentile atheists and agnostics could not withstand it. It was a non pareil wisdom. In fact, the Bible identifies Him as the personification of the wisdom of God (1Cor.1:24; Colo.2:3). This wisdom, the Lord displayed in His words and teachings. No doubt, He was the Prophet that Moses saw coming to reveal the mind of God to us.

3. OUR WILLINGNESS TO WALK WITH THIS GREAT PROPHET:
Then those men, when they had seen the miracle that Jesus did, said, this is of a truth that prophet that should come into the world. Then they willingly received him into the ship. (John 6:14, 21).

Now, in the midst of widespread apathy towards Jesus’ gracious invitation, the wise and sensible persons are still taking a willing decision to walk with Him like those folks we read about above. Think about it, here you have someone that has absolute powers to do all things for you, and He even sent out an invitation to you to come unto Him for partnership in this journey of life. You read and see His works of wonder. You also read and hear His words of wisdom. And then, He invites you for a relationship. I believe you will take a decision for Him with all alacrity. I pray you do that immediately in order to enjoy the counsel and leading of this Great Prophet beginning from today. God bless you.
